DHAKA, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan today said the government has taken different pragmatic steps to make the sports arena more vibrant.
He made the remark while addressing the concluding event of the three-day (May 9 to 11) '29th National Karate Competition-2025' organised by the Bangladesh Karate Federation at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur here.
Asif said the process of forming ad hoc committees in various federations is also underway. The process of reforming the sports organisations, which were dissolved at upazila, district and divisional levels across the country, is going on, he added.
Currently, the sports federations and organisations have started their activities in full swing, he said.
Mentioning that sports keep the youths away from drugs and help build a better future, he urged various corporations and businessmen to invest in the sports sector.
"A better Bangladesh can be built if the younger generation is properly nurtured and developed," he added.
"Although there is some budget deficit in the sports sector . . . efforts are being made to increase it," he added.
